Short answer
Why there is no single Cyprus bus fare
Cyprus does not have one bus company. Each district has its own operator, and each publishes its own fares:
- Nicosia and Larnaca - Cyprus Public Transport (CPT)
- Limassol - Limassol Buses
- Paphos - Pafos Buses (OSYPA)
- Between cities - the intercity network, plus separate airport shuttles
What they share is the Motion card, the smart card used across the island. The rules for the card are similar everywhere, but the prices loaded onto it are not. So always check the fare list of the operator whose bus you are actually getting on.
Nicosia and Larnaca fares
CPT's fare page lists these urban fares:
| Ticket | Paper ticket, cash | Motion card |
|---|---|---|
| One way | €2.70 | €2.00 |
| Night one way, 21:00 to 04:00 | €4.70 | €3.50 |
| 7 days | - | €46.80 anonymous, €33.40 personalised |
| 30 days | - | €93.60 anonymous, €66.90 personalised |
The gap between cash and card is the main thing to notice. If you ride more than a few times, a Motion card pays for itself quickly.
CPT also sells an all-cities ticket valid in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos and Famagusta: €20 for a day, and €75 for a week or €225 for a month on a personalised Motion card. Rural and feeder routes have their own lower fares on the same page.
CPT also lists night routes, N1 to N5, on its routes page.
Plans bus trips anywhere in Cyprus across every operator, with fares, live departures and offline timetables.
Get it on Google PlayFree, with a small banner ad on trip results, stop departures and timetables. Pro removes the ads and adds Commute Watch, line alerts, unlimited saved trips, stops and reminders, and a home-screen widget. It is a monthly or yearly subscription, with a 7-day pass for short visits. People who bought the older one-time Pro keep it.
Cyprus Bus - Times & Routes shows the fare for a trip before you board, taken from the official fare data, and puts every operator in one search. It is still worth checking the operator's own page around a fare change like Limassol's, because published data can lag behind an announcement.
Limassol fares, and the change on 5 November 2026
Limassol Buses has announced new fares from 5 November 2026. Its announcement gives both columns:
| Ticket | Until 4 November 2026 | From 5 November 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Single trip, paper | €2.00 | €2.50 |
| Single trip, Motion eWallet | €2.00 | €2.00 |
| Night fare | €3.00 | €4.00 |
| Day pass | €6.00 | €7.00 |
| 7-day pass | €25.00 | €35.00 |
| 30-day, personalised Motion | €45.00 | €50.00 |
| 30-day, anonymous Motion | €45.00 | €60.00 |
The same notice says reduced fares are 50% of the standard fare and will be issued only on the matching Motion card. In other words, after 5 November the cheapest way to ride in Limassol is with a Motion card, and discounts need a personalised one.
Paphos fares
Pafos Buses lists these prices for city, suburb and village routes in the Paphos district:
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| One way | €2.00 |
| One way at night, after 21:00 | €3.00 |
| Daily | €6.50 |
| Weekly, personalised card | €25.00 |
| Weekly, non-personalised card | €35.00 |
| Monthly, personalised card | €50.00 |
| Monthly, non-personalised card | €60.00 |
The Pafos Buses page also notes that intercity services are priced by route, with a minimum charge of €3.00. For the Paphos Airport buses, see the Paphos Airport to Paphos timetable.
How the Motion card works
There are two plastic Motion cards, and the difference matters if you want a discount.
Anonymous (non-personalised) card. Anyone can buy one at a sales point. It holds 7-day and 30-day passes and an e-wallet of up to €50. It does not give discounts.
Personalised card. You need ID, and proof of entitlement if you want a discount, for example a student or pensioner card. CPT says you may hold only one. It can also carry a 365-day pass. If it is lost, the balance can be moved to a new card for a fee.
Issue fees are not the same everywhere. CPT lists €5.00 for either plastic card. Limassol Buses' tickets page says its personalised card is issued free and its anonymous card costs up to €2.00, while its fare-change notice lists a €5 issuance cost. Pafos Buses lists €2.00 for the non-personalised card. Ask at the sales point you use.
Transfers
With the e-wallet, CPT says the most you pay for a trip with up to 2 transfers within 60 minutes of the first validation is €2.00, or €1.00 on a discount card. A cash paper ticket does not include transfers. Limassol Buses and Pafos Buses describe the same 2-transfers-in-60-minutes rule for the e-wallet.
Fare caps on the e-wallet
Limassol Buses says daily, 7-day and 30-day fare caps apply automatically across Cyprus on a personalised card, so heavy use in a day stops costing more once you reach the cap.
Where to top up
CPT lists five ways to top up a plastic Motion card:
- CPT sales offices (bring the card)
- Its website, for period tickets in Nicosia and Larnaca only
- The Pame app
- Vending machines at Solomou Station and Larnaca Central Station (cash or card), and at the General Hospital and Larnaca Airport (card)
- Selected kiosks
Limassol Buses says its cards can be recharged at sales points or online through JCC Smart.
Children, students and other discounts
Discounts are set by each operator and almost all of them need a personalised Motion card. Two examples of how they differ:
- CPT says children under 6 travel free and do not need a card.
- Limassol Buses says children up to 5 travel free and children aged 6 to 12 get 50% off.
University students, pensioners, benefit recipients and some other groups can get 50% off or free travel. Each operator's page lists the groups and the documents you need.
Airport shuttles are priced separately
The Kapnos Airport Shuttle between the airports and Nicosia or Ayia Napa sells its own tickets, online or from its staff at its main stations. Its fares depend on the route and are shown when you book. As listed in our 17 Oct 2026 timetable snapshot, a one-way ticket was €10 from Larnaca Airport to Nicosia (route page), €13 from Larnaca Airport to Ayia Napa (route page) and €20 between Paphos Airport and Nicosia (route page). Check the current price with Kapnos before you travel. Our guide on getting from Larnaca Airport by bus covers it, and the bus app guide explains where to see times for each operator.
