Row Counter is an offline row and stitch counter for knitters and crocheters,
published by BotSquash. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
Short version: it has no account, no analytics, and no ad SDK.
Row Counter does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
It has no account and no servers of its own. It requests Internet access only so
the optional, one-time "Craft Pass" purchase can be processed by Google Play Billing.
Data we collect
None, ourselves.
The app has no account or login.
Your projects, counters, values, notes, colorways, and settings are stored
only on your own device. They never leave your phone unless you choose to
export a backup yourself.
The app does not use analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs.
The app does not use the advertising ID and contains
no ad network — there are no ads anywhere in Row Counter.
Why the app requests Internet access
Row Counter works fully offline, but the Android package does declare the Internet and
network-state permissions. This exists solely so Google Play
Billing can process the optional, one-time "Craft Pass" unlock ($2.99) if you choose
to buy it. That purchase is handled entirely by Google Play — we never see or store your
payment details, and it's covered by
Google Play's own privacy policy. If you
never open the Craft Pass paywall, the app makes no network requests at all.
Permissions
Notifications (Android 13+): used only for the optional "active
session" ongoing notification (shows your row count, including on the lock screen, with
+1/−1 buttons). Deny or revoke it any time in system settings — the app works fully without
it.
Boot-completed: lets the home-screen widget redraw after your phone
restarts. No data is sent anywhere for this.
Wake lock: keeps the screen awake on the full-screen tap-counter
screen only, so it doesn't dim mid-row.
Vibrate: powers the haptic tap feedback.
Billing: lets Google Play process the optional Craft Pass purchase.
The app does not use location, contacts, camera, microphone, or any
cross-app identifier.
Widget & lock-screen notification
The home-screen widget and the ongoing lock-screen notification read and write your pinned
counter's value using local Android APIs on your own device. Nothing about your projects is
transmitted off your phone by either surface.
Backups & sharing
"Export backup" saves your projects to a local file or Android's share sheet so you can
keep or move your own copy. What you do with that file is up to you.
The "Finished Object" share card creates an image on your device and hands it to
Android's share sheet only when you tap Share and choose an app. Row
Counter itself does not upload or send the image anywhere.
In-app purchases
The one-time "Craft Pass" ($2.99) is sold and processed through Google Play
Billing. We never see or store your card or payment details. Row Counter only stores
a local flag on your device recording that the Pass is unlocked.
Children
The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
