Plant Care: Watering Reminder — Privacy Policy

Plant Care: Watering Reminder is an offline plant-watering reminder app, published by BotSquash. This policy explains how the app handles information. Short version: no account, no login, and no personal data of any kind leaves your phone — every plant you add, every photo you attach, and every reminder schedule is stored only on your own device.

Plant Care does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our servers. It has no account, no login, and (as of this version) no analytics or advertising SDK. Your plant list, photos, and settings are stored only in local app storage on your device.

Data we collect directly

None.

The app has no account or login and asks for no personal information. Every plant's name, watering interval, care history, and notes you enter is stored only in local app storage on your device — we never see or receive it.
The app does not use analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs.

Photos

If you attach a photo to a plant, it is copied into the app's own private storage on your device — nothing is uploaded anywhere. The photo is only included if you export a backup (see below), and even then it stays on whatever device or storage you choose to share that backup to.

Backup & restore (paid feature)

The one-time unlock adds the ability to export your plant list as a single backup file, which you can share via any app you choose (email, cloud storage, etc.) or save to your device's storage. This export is entirely under your control:

The app itself never uploads or transmits your backup anywhere — it only hands the file to whatever destination you pick via Android's own share sheet or file picker.
Restoring a backup replaces your current plant list after you confirm.

Home screen widget

The optional home-screen widget shows the plants that need care soonest. It recalculates entirely on your device from the plant list already stored in the app — nothing is fetched from the internet.

Notifications

Care reminders are scheduled entirely on your device using Android's own notification system. No reminder content is generated by or sent through any server — it is computed locally from the watering interval you set for each plant.

Permissions

Notifications: used only for care reminders, entirely local to your device.
Camera / photo picker: used only when you choose to attach a photo to a plant. The app does not access your camera or gallery at any other time.
Internet: reserved for the future AdMob integration described below (not active in this version) and for Google Play Billing, used only if you purchase the optional unlock. The app makes no other network requests.
The app does not use location, contacts, microphone, or any cross-app identifier.

Ads are not active in this version. This app is built to eventually show AdMob ads once it has enough users, but no ad SDK is included in this build — no ad network calls, no advertising ID collection, nothing to disclose on that front today. The first version that does include ads will update this policy and the Play Store's Data Safety declaration before that version is published — this paragraph will be replaced with AdMob's actual data-sharing disclosure (advertising ID, ad interaction data shared with Google) at that time, not silently left as-is.

In-app purchase

The one-time Plant Care Unlock (product id plant_care_unlock, $3.99 or your region's equivalent price — unlimited plants, custom care types, local backup export/import) is sold and processed entirely through Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card or payment details. The app only stores a local flag on your device recording that the unlock is active.

Children

The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children. It is a general-audience reminder tool, not directed at or marketed to children.

Changes

If this policy changes — most notably when AdMob ads actually go live — the "Last updated" date above will change and the ads section will be rewritten to reflect what's actually collected at that time. Continued use of the app means you accept the current policy.
