Lamplight is a calm Islamic bedtime-stories app for Muslim children, published by
BotSquash. This policy explains, in plain language, how the app handles information — written so a
parent can trust it in under a minute.
Short version: Lamplight has no account and no sign-up, asks for
nothing personal, shows no ads, and does not use
advertising IDs or track your child across apps. To play stories it streams audio and artwork from
our content servers, and it uses a small amount of anonymous, non-personal usage and
crash data to keep the app working. That's all.
No account, no personal data
Lamplight has no login, no sign-up, and no user profiles on any server.
We do not ask for or collect your child's name, email, phone number, photos,
contacts, location, microphone, or camera.
Your child's Favorites, listening progress, and settings are stored only on your
device — they are not uploaded to us and not tied to any identity.
Streaming stories (what leaves the device, and why)
Lamplight's stories and pictures are delivered from our content network (Cloudflare) so we can add
new stories without an app update. When the app loads the library or plays a story, it makes an ordinary
internet request to fetch that audio or image. As with any website or streaming app, the content network
automatically receives standard technical information needed to deliver the file — such as your device's
IP address and general device/app type.
This technical data is used only to deliver and secure the content (serving files,
preventing abuse). It is not used to build a profile of your child,
not used for advertising, and not stored by us to identify any
individual.
Downloaded stories play fully offline afterward, with no further requests.
Anonymous usage & crash data
To fix bugs and understand which stories are used (so we can make the app better and calmer),
Lamplight collects a small amount of anonymous, aggregate data — for example, that a
story was played or finished, or an anonymous crash/diagnostic report if something goes wrong.
This data is not personal and is not linked to your child's
identity, name, or account (there is no account).
It is used solely to operate and improve the app — never to advertise to your
child, never sold, and never used to track your child across other apps or websites (no cross-app
tracking).
Lamplight uses no advertising ID and includes no advertising SDKs.
If the shipped build changes what this component collects, this policy and our Google Play Data
Safety declaration will be updated to match before release.
No ads
Lamplight shows no advertisements of any kind and contains no ad networks. Your
child will never be shown a third-party ad, tracker, or "watch this to continue" prompt.
Purchases & external links (parental gate)
Lamplight is free to start. If a subscription is offered in the future, any purchase, and any
link that leaves the app (for example to our website or the app store), sits behind a
parental gate — a simple check only an adult can pass — so children cannot make
purchases or open external pages on their own. Payments, if any, are handled entirely by
Google Play Billing; we never see or store your card or payment details.
Children & COPPA / Designed for Families
Lamplight is intended for children and is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online
Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play's Designed for Families
requirements.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Any persistent identifier or technical data described above is used only to support the
internal operations of the app — delivering stories, keeping the service running, fixing
crashes, and security — never to profile, target, or advertise to a child.
We do not enable behavioral advertising, and we do not sell any data.
Data sharing & retention
We do not sell your data and do not share personal data with
third parties for their own use.
The only third parties involved are the infrastructure providers that make the
app function (our content-delivery network for streaming, our analytics/crash-reporting provider for
anonymous diagnostics, and Google Play for the app and any billing) — each acting only to provide
their service to us.
Anonymous usage/crash data is retained only as long as useful for operating and improving the app.
Security
Stories you download are stored securely on your device. Content requests are made over encrypted
(HTTPS) connections.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the app means you
accept the current policy.
